So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall.
(1 Corinthians 10:12)
Do you remember a time when you fell in a really ungraceful way? Maybe you were distracted, walking on uneven ground, playing sports, or even just as a child—or an adult. Whether it was a funny moment or a serious accident, we’ve all been there. Depending on the support we have at the time, a fall can leave lasting consequences. In the Bible, we see an example in Mephibosheth, Saul’s grandson, who became crippled because of a fall (2 Samuel 4:4).
Falls can also happen in our spiritual lives. Every believer who has fallen knows that it can leave deep marks that sometimes last a lifetime. In this verse, the apostle Paul exhorts us to be careful—not to become overconfident. It is only by God's mercy that we remain standing in the faith. But many stumbles happen because of our own carelessness and poor decisions.
Stand Firm in Jesus to Keep from Falling:
Give thanks to God for keeping your faith strong and your heart secure in His presence. 🙌
Seek wisdom in God’s Word about how to remain firm in your walk with Him. 📖
Learn from past mistakes and commit to walking under the guidance of the Father. 👣
Have you fallen? Repent, pray, and ask God to lift you up and help you not to fall again. 🙏
Grow a personal friendship with Jesus. The more you remain in Him, the more He holds you up and protects you from the traps around you. 🤝
Prayer:
Lord my God, thank You for sustaining my life in You each day. Help me to walk firmly in faith and stay faithful in Your presence, Lord. Forgive every time I’ve fallen. Teach me to rise again and remain secure in You. Today, I choose to honor You and to walk carefully, so I won’t fall. In Jesus’ name, amen.
